There was a mouse to play with, but the cat was not so young anymore, and the sunbeam was wide and warm, and the mouse was a fighter, fierce the way they had not been when she was a kitten.
She lay down, just for a short nap.

"The two most important carbon markets so far – the EU Emissions Trading System (EU-ETS) and the UN's carbon offsetting scheme, Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) – are failures, yet, new carbon markets based on these schemes are being planned"

@keithzg I wouldn't say that it's unethical for SNC-Lavalin to seek a deal; but it would be highly unethical for the PM to interfere in any criminal prosecution. To me, it seems likely that the PM's staff did indeed try to pressure Minister Wilson-Raybould. Someone ought to be fired if so.
Not that I really think anything will happen. MPs do as they're told, PMs have learnt it is less risky to brazen through scandals than to demand resignations, the public will care only slightly.
"The reporter, admirably, tried again '… but not necessarily direct, Prime Minister, was there any sort of influence whatsoever?' Then for a third time (I expected a cock to crow somewhere) Mr. Trudeau flopped back to the identical stilted reply he had already given twice."

@OpenCulture According to the article, it's largely because they've paid less withholding, i.e., that they took home more of each paycheque.
"Many Americans appear to like getting a refund because they feel that if they received an extra $20 to $40 a week, they would spend it. But when they get a one-time refund of $1,000 to $2,000, they put it toward paying off credit card debt, paying down a mortgage or saving for retirement."
#GospelToday ( Lk 5:8-11)
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said, "Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man."
For astonishment at the catch of fish they had made seized him and all those with him, and likewise James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners of Simon. Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men."
When they brought their boats to the shore, they left everything and followed him.
The WHATWG killed the Web. Well, not exactly; they stabbed it in the kidney, salted the wound with weak seasoning, DRM and JavaScript and shoved it into the Web.
And now it’s positioning itself as the savior. Great.

GHOST APPLES 👻🍎
After freezing rain in Michigan, apples that hadn’t been picked got coated in ice. Many fell off the tree. Some had their insides turn to mush as apples have lower freezing points. The mush and skin fell, leaving these “ghost apples.”

What's the best #SIP app on #Linux these days, preferable #Gnome/#Gtk but not a hard requirement? Tried #Linphone but while it works quite well on Android it is really buggy on my GNU system and crashes a lot.
@danyork Somebody should write a Mastodon backend for #Gnus... (#Emacs)

@nimirea Thanks for the explanation. Good luck with your research.
Was Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould shuffled out her role as Minister of Justice because she wouldn't go easy on SNC-Lavalin corruption?
(I'm not sure what the appropriate punishment is for SNC-Lavalin, but the PM shouldn't be deciding either.)
