@Downes my son gave me a present for Mothering Sunday one year - at school they told them to write a poem and draw a picture - he did this (aged 9). 'you are like lightning, spreading love and care around, and then you withdraw back'

Best present ever. -so yes, sunshine in the shadows. doesn't always happen, but it's a goal.

@Downes I think this is what makes you different. (also why people don't necessarily comment) This is FAR harder than to join a grumble queue. And at the end of the day it's not about you (as in personal fame or something) but that again is hard. Having an idea and/or enact one & letting it go as it creates/rebuilds is hard. -but that's what good teaching is about. We hear about the accomplishments of the student, not about the one who taught them. -My goal is to be sunshine in the shadows.

@Tdorey for me the title comes last - but my brain works in strange ways.

It is like Jeopardy, and then you're in a field of daisies, sitting in the midst of everything. and it was all around you all the time.

When you can name it, and show it, you will help other people to see it. @Downes

@Downes Three lines get gold stars from me:
    * Start at the margins.
    * Each person is valuable in & of themselves.
    * Having the skills to express– what we’re willing to do, what we’re willing to give.

That last one- people don't tend to talk about what they are personally willing to do/give. Beside making 'stuff' or 'opportunity' it takes being involved. skin in the game, whatever someone wants to call it- & includes risk and vulnerability. You're right ppl need skills to name it & then act.

Today I needed sleep. I'm nearly done with my complicated busy spell, with one more thing to go next week. I tried to fit in one more thing, just an all day one more thing, but... it wasn't to be. I am not good at admitting the bounds of my self, but this time the need for sleep won out.

    Each day
    fits just so much
    within its hours.

and some of that must be rest.

    I am learning.

@Tdorey that 'normal' is magic. We had it too a few weeks ago, and we all melted into something comfortable and familiar -

even if all our paths cross less often now, it's like the smell of spring. never forgotten, even in the cold of winter, and when it comes back, it's like it never left.

-and it can happen with friends too, sometimes in unexpected places. I think that's what 'home' feels like.

@katebowles you have a marvellous perspective, and way of framing thing for people, Kate.

I was supposed to meet a lovely friend tomorrow night in London - here for a day from abroad, but unlike the wonders of online, physical meetings take travel and the limits of how much 'go' one can do in these 24 hour days hit me.

I did a project where I taught 20 adults for a semester... and here it is! Yes, it's open access. No paywalls. :)
'Adult Beginner Instrumentalists’ Practice, Self-Regulation, and Self-Efficacy: A Pilot Study' http://redfame.com/journal/index.php/jets/article/view/2978

Most interesting things for me were both the positives and negatives about persistence, goals, and achievement.

Apparently YouTube tracks us like mad. They gague interest by length of watch and do loads of geo location... (insert sad face)

DuckDuckGo allows you to watch through them and it proxies it. (I don’t really understand but I’m learning) gives you choices to watch via them, with far less tracking

So a while ago I set out to rewrite the default Mastodon privacy policy to have a more limited scope and be more explicit about Mastodon features (because the original was adopted from WordPress, which is a totally different beast!). I've put a formatted render of the new text in here: https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/pull/6666

I wanna hear if people think it's okay to adopt. It might still have some vague wording because it's a default policy, but should be an overall improvement...

@Gargron I agree with @charlag -A suggestion: in the section 'what do we use your info for?' I'd
    1. remove the word 'one' from intro sentence
    2. Remove the italics from all three of the following points. These sections speak for themselves and the italics words don't really add anything- & if anything they may make it sound a bit corporate.

As usual, you're doing more than great. your care for people is exemplary. Thank you Eugen!

Woke up to a big leek in the shower and on the ceiling below.

I’m an early riser so one of my children planed ahead and was definitely on +1 for wit level.
