We're going to see my dad today. He is good enough now that we are going to sneak him out of the hospital to spend some time at their new apartment, an amazing recovery given he couldn't get out of bed a couple of weeks ago.

We are not religious, but I'll celebrate and tears of joy will leak from my eyes any time I hear "He is risen" today. #smallstories

For now I'm going to hope that someone will take the suggestion on as a project so that it can become a standard feature (fingers crossed).

I just wound up a wonderful visit with @Ammienoot and remain so thankful for all of the "ed tech" I have had the pleasure of meeting. As I move away from that work, I think about good ways to keep a toe dipped in various ponds, but also appreciate that I no longer spend all of my days wading through it.

I have think it would helpful to be able to "turn up and down the volume on" on some accounts - I don't want to mute, but for example only receive 3/10 of their toots. Any 3 would be fine. This feels like it would be easy to do and really useful. Please do let me know if such a thing exists... :) #featurerequest

@katebowles Such a beautiful thought and so true. I've been here less, really in all digital spaces less. But this is the only one that I find myself happy and smiling when I return to.

I have the day off today. And I am at home. I don’t remember in all my working time taking a day off that was not for a specific purpose or travel. This one happened by accident when a trip was cancelled, so instead of driving for hours, I am sipping coffee at 9 am while watching the rain outside. It is so wonderful. I need to remember to do it again.

@lauraritchie oooh....this looks like so much fun! There are several thrift shops close to my house. I’m going to look for ties next time I’m in!

Been spending a lot less time online lately. More time plugged into my family. I miss my online community, but feeling very present and grounded in the real world.

Looking for a contractor to support a baby Moodle upgrade. Hoping someone might know of a baby company that might be interested.

My dad is in the hospital. He went in for treatment, but instead they are doing more tests as his health continues to decline. He is having his third spinal tap today.

We will go to visit later, but I spent the morning making the spaghetti sauce I used to make with him on the weekends as a kid. I smiled as I put in the bay leaves - always 2, I have no idea why.

It feels good knowing we'll come back to the house to the smell of that sauce simmering.

@lauraritchie I am at a similar point. Recognizing the difficulties in straddling the higher ed & 'rest of world' worlds. The differences are not just in terms of content, but processes, structures & values. Thinking of backing out of OER18 which makes me sad, but (if I do it) also relieved - building & implementing an organizational learning strategy from the ground up is good work that I love, but also a full(++)time job.

This too is progress.

@Downes This is really wonderful on many levels. It includes the learning choices driven by the individual, which is what my son desires (and most would benefit from) and combines it with maintaining you own personal data - I think like the student learning record store idea I've been thinking about for a couple of years *and* doing it using open-source software if I am not mistaken. Really, really wonderful.
