Is there any good concise summaries of economics on measuring and adjusting for the abuses of market economies, such as externalities, power differentials, and limited or inaccurate information? I want to read more on these subjects. :/
@lnxw48a1 Signal's visible distrust of others and deep reliance on its own systems makes it a shockingly vulnerable system to correctly applied pressure. De minimise, it should have both federation and true Linux client support (not Chrome extension or w/e)... Oh well.
@brennen I have no essential issue with a business friendly moderate. Their perspective is useful. But I think that it's the Republicans who need that....
I want the next Democrat pres to not only roll back Trumpian ways, but to lead the country dramatically Left. The business minded moderates will fund enough Democrats to make that hard enough.
First off we have a dark horse centrist " Want to topple Trump? Take John Delaney seriously. https://wapo.st/2qS80qQ " which illustrates nicely why primaries should happen all on the same day. Also I ain't voting for a centrist.
@kai be good advice but also you have to make sure your body can support what you want to do. As my visits to the doc after doing too much running with bad form and weak muscles taught me.
@dar13 Yeah. If someone is going for a pure powerlift play, they will naturally learn how much of that set of points is not applicable.
Iiuc, muscle confusion is not an actual mechanism. The question of when adaptation occurs - and /when/ in your athletic progress is the relevant Q. Novices have a different requirement set for their bodies than highly trained people.
Some notes on strength training that I distilled from reading a *lot* of books on it by coaches/athletes/blogs, etc. This represents what I think to be a reasonable set of notes summarizing the internet consensus view.
I was visiting an Adult Toy shop some time ago, and I was really awkwarded out by the negative words: "dirty", "sinful" that were associated with the products. There were others. I didn't keep a journal.
Like... Sex isn't dirty. Nor, for that matter, is it pure. It's also not inherently sinful, wicked, etc. Or naughty.
It's very off-putting to be seeing things advertised as "naughty", when you're a married dude getting supplies for the marriage. Like... no? This is healthy...
@jjg@alxd honestly I sort of never felt at home in the "how to do hand tools", "oh, look, machinery " mindset. I was using power tools by the time I was 12: all my dad's friends were tradespeople or other rural workers. Making stuff to do things with was just how we lived. Gimcrackery and affected excitement over our authentic lifes work - which was often drudgery, always underpaid, and all the adults claimed to hate - just feels ... weird and off-putting.
