half of the instances listed on this "blocklist advisory" are being blocked because of the advisory author's personal political preferences.

    http://telegra.ph/Instances-to-silencesuspend-on-Mastodon-06-23

if you're taking advice from this person, keep in mind that they are applying bias towards instances who are not in entire political alignment with them.

and they are using my own toots to do it, while they blocked me themselves prior to the publication of my advisory about the 2.distsn.org spam instance, which would be hilarious except i never agreed to have my messages linked from such a diatribe

the US actually has really good nuclear regulation and enforcement *right now*

however, it should be noted that Rick Perry recently took over as the regulator in chief, and he very obviously hasn't any clue what the DoE actually does

i especially like how their blocklist advisory references me on 2.distsn.org while they themselves have blocked me, that is truly amazing

this doesn't mean that publishing a blocklist in use on a public instance is bad, it's just when you call it a "blocklist advisory" that it becomes bad.

see also: basically every freenode wannabe staffer ever. "that guy did some bad thing somewhere 2 years ago, better ban him from every channel i have ops in!"

mastodon blocklist advisories like @dzuk's are utterly toxic and encourage group-think instead of conscious admin decision-making.

probably a good thing that person blocks me and puts himself in a bubble that excludes this valuable input

another useful apk-tools 2.10 feature: it now automatically updates repository indexes if they are more than 4 hours old. this way you don't run into problems where packages have been removed from the archive.

apk-tools 2.10 introduces applet aliases support. this means:

    - `apk install` does the same thing as `apk add`

    - `apk remove` does the same thing as `apk del`

    - `apk purge` does the same thing as `apk del --purge`

    - `apk dist-upgrade` does the same thing as `apk upgrade --available` (which does basically the same thing as the other package manager's dist-upgrade)

patch will be going in after some cleanups, but the concept is proven

i want to make a device which has an LTE modem in it and connects via CAN to an OBD-II port with user-controlled firmware

then we could have telematics that we control ourselves instead of onstar which sells data to insurance agencies and cops

i'm well aware, that's why i asked them that question... a lot of the transit providers buy their waves from zayo these days because zayo bought all the transport providers out ;/

of course 4 months later our "protected" zayo circuit in dallas between infomart and 2323 bryan was knocked completely down by a backhoe ;/
