Random unsolicited suggestion: maybe consider providing alternatives to various aspects of Facebook as well as FB itself.

For example, listservs instead of groups, meetup-alternatives instead of FB Events, etc.

Facebook is leveraging its critical mass to get into all kinds of other spaces and many of those end up being somebody's One Necessary Thing. If you can provide a better alternative to that, they can give up on Facebook entirely.

Question: $SPOUSE got a DMCA takedown for a short Birdsite video they made. (Music copyright holder objected.) Ignoring the irony of getting takedown for a song that got huge because of this kind of viral use, is there anything they should do? Not in terms of fighting the takedown or anything, but is there any group that's still collecting these notices for advocacy purposes?

I like that when I looked this show up on Wikipedia, it gave me a list of detailed episode summaries but nothing about the show’s premise.

As though the title and “reality television” were all I needed.

I’ve had pretty good luck with JRuby as well. It integrates seamlessly with existing Java libraries except for a few edge cases. (Worst case, you’ll need to write a bit of Java glue.)
