@chuck @codesections @kelbot I had my house re-wired last year. I was on a video call with @mike and @hugo last week, and I couldn't even stream video, the performance penalty was that bad via my powerline adapters.

Now it may just be that my ~4 year old adapters are just crap, but thought I'd give you my feedback.

They're fine for basic browsing (albeit a little slow), but anything heavy, forget it.

@Tusky I'd like to make a feature request if at all possible please?

Where would I go about doing that? Thanks.

Crazy to think that there's one day every four years where Office 365 flat out doesn't work

@unknown when you export your data, it just exports a list of the people you follow. You're still starting fresh, you just don't have to re-follow all the people you followed before.

I believe the devs are working on a full migration tool. Or at least a way to redirect.

@unknown it syncs to catch up, so it's as if nothing ever happened.

Only impact to people on other instances is that they would have been able to see or interact with users on Mastodon.social during the outage. That's one of the many reason why I love Mastodon. 😊

@unknown that's correct. I wrote a couple of articles on my blog (kevq.uk) that explains how mastodon and federation work.

To answer your previous question though, as @OliverUv already alluded to, a lot of LBGT+ folk have a home on Mastodon, so you do tend to see a lot of discussion on that topic in the federated timeline.

Personally, I tend to stick to the people I follow and the local timeline. That way, I just see the stuff I'm interested in. 👍

@loke yeah, but what did it expand in to? To say that something is expanding indicates that it has something to expand in to, doesn't it?

Let's say I have a bucket with 1litre of water in it. That water can only expand up to the capacity of the bucket, but the bucket needs to be there for the water to expand in to. What is the bucket?

@loke I don't know, maybe I'm over simplifying it. But for the universe to explode and expand, it has to have something to expand in to surely?

@1792coins the whole big bang theory blows my mind. It's just so...BIG! too big for my little mind to comprehend.

For me, it's a paradox. Before the big bang (and therefore the universe) there was nothing. But for there to be nothing, there has to be something, right? Something for the universe to expand in to. Even a black void is still something.

What I've always questioned is - where did that black void come from? As it certainly isn't "nothing".

Nice Toot! I love this stuff. 👍

@ivan the only other one I've used, it GnomeDo and that was years ago. UL supports extensions, which I don't believe GD does? (or at least it didn't when I last used it...i think).

So I can add extra functionality, like Web searches (I have ddg and amazon configured), as well as doing lings like managing Spotify, generating passwords etc.

It probably doesn't do a great deal over the similar tools, but I haven't used one in so long, it's really helpful.
