@timapple whilst their help is very much appreciated, I know they're both crazy busy, plus I'd rather try and work it out myself. Teach a man to fish and all that. π
@bobstechsite I don't mean in terms of monitory value, more just the fact that it seems to be latest buzz word that everyone is jumping. Few years ago it was "we're social", then it was "we're on the cloud", then it was "we integrate with blockchain for your privacy and security", now it's "our <thing> is federated!"
Is "federation" the next blockchain? Everyone seems to be jumping on the bandwagon. I've seen a few projects that are trying to reinvent the wheel by adding federation, when really adds very little in many cases.
@h4ck3r9 grids are definitely the way forward. Much easier to work with and will allow you to have a responsive design, depending on the screen size of your readers.
@joseph I found Nextcloud to generally be a hot mess. I don't think I'll be using it again anytime soon.
IMHO they're doing too much. It's an incredible concept, but they need to get the core stuff nailed before they move on and add more features. The mail app is awful, the calendar app is OK, the contacts app is...meh.
File sync seems to be the only thing that works as it should.
@mike I did that once. I supposed to be phoning "Alex A", who was supposed to be helping me move house, but I phone "Alex B" by mistake.
He picked up, I asked where he was, then a very awkward conversation ensued which ended with "we should go for a beer soon". Haven't spoken to, or heard from him since...that was 6 years ago.
I played around with it until it worked. I think rather than the assets folder, what fixed it was using a sub folder and a relative path from the js file, rather than the full path. That's just a guess though.
Anyone here any good with have experience with Electron app development?
I don't need a full client for my mail, so decided to create an Electron app for my webmail client (Fastmail). It's all working, but the icon in my panel isn't working. Any ideas?
I've tried adding a line to the JS for the icon, but it isn't working.
