As this instance (and Mastodon as a whole) goes from strength to strength, I think it might be time to kill all my other social accounts. Facebook went a while ago, but maybe it’s time for the others to follow. Namely Twitter and G+.

@codesections great post, thoroughly enjoyed it and I like the fact the take the time to explain how Mastodon works. That was definitely something I found confusing at first. Nice work.

@lx no idea. It was just a plain old bank transfer, shouldn't have warranted extra fees.

@lx no idea, it's the first time I've taken money out. It basically said "you will be charged 17.x% for this transaction. Do you want to continue?"

@mooshoe we've always been with Masto.host. It was a conscious decision when I first started, as I've run projects before and the admin work just saps the fun out of it. This way, I can enjoy the community and the awesome @hugo does all the clever stuff.

Federation with other instances just takes time as your users start to follow people. If you don't have many users, you could consider implementing a follow not, but they're a double edged sword as many don't like them.

@lx that's what I though. We just processed a withdrawal because of the issues they're having with their payment system and we were charged over 17%. I wish that was a typo, but no, SEVENTEEN PERCENT.

When I first signed up, I thought it was fairly expensive (five bucks a month), but then I realised - I spend more than that on coffee and lunch every day!
