@stringlytyped I do occasionally favourite toots by accident also. I do agree though, @tootapp is by far the best iOS app out there, IMHO.

@chucker do you check the profile of every person you interract with on Mastodon, before hitting reply? I certainly don't.

Mistakes happen.

If someone has their identity misrepresented in a comment, like 'dude' for example, then that person says 'I actualy identfy as X, can you please refer to me as such in future?' and the person who made the mistake fixes it, what's the issue?

If someone then went on to not respect that, then yeah, there's an issue there.

Personally, I don't recall ever calling you 'dude'; I always thought we had a pretty friendly relationship actually. I enjoyed a lot of your content.

Anyway, if anyone did call you 'dude' I'm sure it was just a mistake.

@EclecticEclipse I used to run a Zimbra server at home. It worked well, but was a lot of work.

If you’re just looking to cut costs, I’d recommend Zoho as a host. They have a simple privacy policy and features comparable to Gsuite.

Their lowest tier gives you 5GB of mail storage, but is only $1/m. You can add more storage if needed, or upgrade to a higher tier.

I’ll try to explain again...That discussion was about gender references in a person’s bio. It makes me cringe (and it still does) because I personally feel that mentioning one’s gender has no relevance here.

Again, it’s just my opinion. It has nothing to do with my feelings on how someone labels themselves (I couldn’t care less as long as they’re happy) and someone’s gender will NEVER affect a mod action I take.

@termix07012 I am standing behind what I say. My opinion hasn’t changed, this just isn’t the right forum. TL;DR it’s not worth the drama.

That makes me cringe, not because I’m against the whole they/them thing, but because I think it has no relevance here.

Again, I’d take no action against those who choose to put something like that in their profile.

@ashfurrow my Toot was aimed at no specific group - no gender, no race etc. I was (wrongly) airing a frustration that I had where I think some people are overly sensitive (full post coming soon with more context).

That doesn’t mean I’d take any action against those people, just because they frustrate me personally. I’d never do such a thing.

Finally, we’re re-wording the CoC to make it less ambiguous. This will be signed off by the team and our Patrons.

@ashfurrow hey Ash, sorry been away the last couple days, so not been online much.

To me, inclusive means to treat people fairly wherever possible. By ‘radically inclusive’ we wanted to articulate that we mean _everyone_.

So if someone joins Fosstodon and you message me saying “Hey Kev, that person that just joined is homophobic” I wouldn’t just take your word for it, I’d wait to see evidence of that homophobia before taking action.
