I'm pretty leftie and I've participated in Black Lives Matter protests, and believe in that stance.

Regardless, surprising and weird to read that a knockoff event "Black Matters" was allegedly organized and run by the same Russian groups that funded alt-right troll farms, and was attended by thousands http://thehill.com/policy/technology/358025-thousands-attended-protest-organized-by-russians-on-facebook

Participants in general did not know.

A test to see which different parts of US politics Russian groups can tap into? Or? Not really sure what to make of it.

@gargron @drequivalent GMG also needs some rearchitecting; the world has changed a lot since we started ~5 years ago. IPFS didn't even exist then, and Python async options were totally different than today.

(I've also changed a lot over the last few years; I wouldn't mind focusing on the Guile implementation of AP I'm doing if I had the option tbh. But I've made promises and I intend to stick by them.)

@drequivalent @gargron We had mostly-working federation using ActivityPub's predecessor, but then I got tied up in standardizing federation to make sure the system we used was more universal, and ironically it pulled me away from MediaGoblin. So now federation in MediaGoblin will require some rewriting.

The plan is/was that I would do that for GMG in 2018. But I have plenty of things I could be doing. But that's still the plan for now. Maybe not as important if someone does it better.

Maybe if @gargron builds a federated ~mediagoblin using ActivityPub that isn't MediaGoblin I can move on to other projects.
