@GuerillaOntologist They are largely keeping him out of London. Air Force One landed at a smaller airport a long way from London and most of his engagements are on country estates and smaller towns 30-40 miles from the capital.
@cute_weeds Manx Telecom is a pain in the arse. You can roam all over Europe for free now, but if you go within signal range of the Isle of Man (like if you're on the coast or on a ferry from Liverpool-Belfast) you get whacked with massive roaming bills because IoM isn't in the EU.
@hollyamory The world has been so tense and angry in the few weeks leading up to yesterday's match. It's not just domestic violence, it's been all kinds of tension.
I've personally noticed a lot more road rage over the past couple of weeks, and been a victim a couple of times, for instance.
I think the team themselves are infinitely more likeable than they used to be, but still have a hard time supporting them.
No one seems to understand why I want to drive 60 miles home during tonight's England football match.
"You'll miss the BIG MATCH!" they say.
For me, the pleasure in something like a major football match that everyone's watching doesn't come from watching the match. It comes from experiencing the country while the match is on, seeing the deserted roads and empty spaces.
I get to experience things how I want to, and I experience them differently from others.
@StuC Most stations stream online. A few cities also have small-scale DAB+ multiplexes which host smaller stations that can't afford to get on FM, or where the FM spectrum is too congested to fit new stations in.
Because we're a small, narrow country with a conservative regulator, FM spectrum is really limited which is why we end up with flea-power community radio stations that struggle for audience and money.
