@Miniver besides the whole mishandled mess all of this is, it is scary how Americans think /judge along party lines.
Whoever thought a two party system could be anything but divisive?
What a mess!

@parasurv why delete the old account? And why wait? You can just have two accounts in parallel.
It would kind of miss the point of making online connections. People just get to know you, and then you disappear. You have every right to, but it sounds a bit sad ๐ -

@feonixrift @maloki fascinating! It might also explain why online conversations sometimes completely go off the trails. People from different cultural contexts might find it hard to pick up clues, especially online. -

@eldang I think if I could only teach one thing to the world it would be "transcripts are only maps of talk, not the talk itself"
though I guess that would only be useful if I could also teach the world that "maps aren't just representations, they're arguments"

@aparrish it was good. I've been thinking about how I communicate recently and been trying to start working on a narrative work, and finding that how I write and how I speak, while they do overlap quite a lot because I tend to write very often, it feels more rigid and less expressive than my spoken speech.

@z428 still a bit early here, but that sounds like an excellent way to have fun during the weekend.
Any special kind of beers? It's hard to find good German imports here. -

This is a pretty interesting concept. Chassis is made entirely out of PCB.

Low power, but might be not all that cheap. But that keyboard... gorgeous.

@satchmoz @maiki @kensanata
We had a dm who used to say: "it's not about the numbers". Players know approximately what they can do, after that "no plan survives contact with the enemy". You throw your dice and then you pray.
If you played well, you win, if you were an ass... You fail. If you have a nice dm, he might let you live. The games I enjoyed most were the one where immersion was total. There were no rules, just the game (the dm had a million rules, but that's why he was god).

The books are great for the dm, and backstories, though.

@kensanata @satchmoz @maiki
*Automatic spells on level up* always end up in breaking the immersion IMHO. Where do they come from? The gods? That doesn't make any sense.
People start to look at spells 'with the most damage' or some such. It's stupid. Advanced Bookkeeping for Nerds 5th edition is not appealing.
It should be possible to play a game without a rule book (except for the dm). Just a couple of dice, a pen and paper.
Use books for research and ideas, not while playing.

@slphilxyz @quad @raucao on the plus side (for Europe) there are some laws that forbid the blind gathering of personal data and then reselling it.
It's still a mess, though...
