Now that the hotter weather has finally found my little patch of the planet the backyard raspberries have gotten a little carried away with themselves. Better a bit late than never I suppose.
@djsundog great now I want to retrofit a CR10 3d printer with a soldering iron. I've lost count of how many things I want to do and have no time for now :blobtonguewink:
Also want a LitePlacer cuz I wanna put things in their place you know?
...capitalism cannot be sustainable or even humane if people don't have ownership over their lives (ie. no property)...it's basically "property==rights", and as such we have very few rights anymore.
Yet "entrepreneurs" that manage to succeed at separating as many people from property as possible are celebrated and rewarded handsomely in our corporatist economy. Continuing down this path cannot end well.
So investopedia website says "Private property rights are central to a capitalist economy".
But the today people rent homes or are heavily mortgaged, lease cars or take Uber/lyft/car2go and even rent those hideous green bikes and scooters, pay monthly to stream music and video instead of buying media, and increasingly rent their software under the guise of license activations and "*-as-a-service".
Something has seriously gone off the rails here...
@starbreaker this very much reminds me of the approach Loreena McKennitt took with her music. She is a very talented musician who arguably has had personal success greater than her fame.
She founded her own label in the 1980s and started out by selling recordings through mail order. Her music is now available through the big publishers but she still does all her work through her own label and calls the shots.
