@djsundog OK, so... what's the occasion? Is it Wilford Brimley Day?

To quote a neighbor: it's so nice the way the post office delivers my recycling right to my door.

@tbeckett @bhaugen I'm unlikely to make it (unless things change notably), but I still recommend it. Some of the "Pointers" came down to Madison to rehearse one of their workshops, and we were impressed.

@Matt_Noyes @luisrazeto @agaric @GuerillaOntologist @emi @LeoSammallahti Where do you find all this time?

@Stoori @psyklax That's one reason you don't see more co-ops. Another is that they aren't taught in schools or discussed in the media. That means there's much more of a learning curve than other forms of businesses. First, you have to learn that co-ops exist at all, and that you could start one.

@kirby @MadestMadness Another vote for Gentium Book Basic. Libertine Serif and Liberation Serif are also good.

The 11-year-old beat me in chess four times in a row tonight. I'm feeling a bizarre mix of pride and humiliation.

Heading out to the climate strike soon. I plan to remind people there that it isn't humanity that killing the planet, it's capitalism.

@GuerillaOntologist Nice timing -- I just introduced my boy to Morphine yesterday. We had lots to talk about, because I dabble in bass, and he just got tenor sax.

Apparently, there are people who use Inkscape on the command line. Either they're missing something important, or I am.

@teslas_moustache Ha! Just this morning, I was lamenting that there's no anarchist political party to vote for, because I totally would.

@Matt_Noyes Precisely. Early forms of doublespeak.

@Matt_Noyes They'll start off with "hoi poloi" sense, but I think it's time we reclaimed the word.
The history I've read indicates that people were rarely called "commoners" until about the time the commons were being enclosed. It became an insult right about the time it stopped being true.

@Matt_Noyes I'd use "commoners." "Communards" is probably more precise, but hardly anyone recognizes it.

@interneteh True. I thought that once, myself. I had a string of moments that changed my mind, but they're not easily replicable.

@interneteh I thought it was pretty clear that in the Christian Bale series, the Joker was a nihilist, not an anarchist.
