This was funny. As I closed in on completion, the course timed out. I had to log in again and start over.

I got distracted during the EEO course. It is supposed to be a one-hour course, but five hours later, I still haven't completed it. I suppose I'll carry on tomorrow.

Elon Musk legal defeat--loses his $56B pay package because it is excessive. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2024/feb/01/elon-musk-pay-package-lawsuit-drummer-delaware [www theguardian com]

I don't see how any board members could have NOT thought that was excessive and legally questionable.

Equal Employment Opportunity Course for Supervisors -- This one is probably about 80% identical to the regular EEO course. In both courses, they make the mistake of focusing on the complaints process. 90 days for this, 60 days for that. And then all those time periods are on the exam. But if there's a complaint, HR will send an EEO specialist to handle the process and investigation. Regular employees won't need to know such details because they'll be relying on the domain expert.

We don't expect the EEO specialist to know details of inspecting structures' designs in CAD, so why should the CAD inspection specialist know the details of equal employment opportunity complaint processes?

They did indeed call, but it was 05:30 US-Pacific, and that slot was already taken before I awakened. As I told S, I just hope I don't wind up working somewhere like North Dakota. They probably have 10-20 feet of snow and temperatures of -50F|-46C. No thanks.

@fu I'd say there's definitely overpopulation. But for each individual nation, reversing population growth brings the potential hazard of too many retirees for the work-age population to support.

As far as I know, this hasn't happened in any nation yet, but the prospect scares political leaders (and especially nationalists, who want to fill the world with people of their nationality and loyal to their government)

Also, if you're Russia and you've been preparing to start wars of reconquest since 2008 or so, the possibility of population growth soon becoming negative necessarily means that your war has to occur sooner rather than later.

I always remember the two brothers who were playing catch alongside the San Gabriel River. One brother fell in, and rescue efforts failed. His body washed up on a beach days later.

Mandatory training today. 8 hours of pay will help a little.

But seriously, I don't agree with HR that _everyone_ needs to take human trafficking awareness yearly. I don't deal with the public, so even if I knew what to look for, I'm unlikely to see it.

S called to tell me that one of the offices in the Northeast is calling people back to work. I briefly worked in that region several years ago. They had a snowfall and the plows pushed it into the hotel 🏨 parking lot. It was probably twenty feet high in some places.

At least they recognized that some of us were not from there. They gave us off time instead of having us drive through the falling snow ❄️.
