@ajroach42 @thomasfuchs
And a couple months ago I picked up a Toshiba Satellite Pro T2400cs at a Goowill Outlet store which hilarious in and of itself. Basically, a goodwill where they sell everything for $1 per lb. So I got it for the weight. I think about $5. It's got some scuffs but works perfectly well. CMOS and power batteries are dead but other than that it works great. Has windows 3.11. Not sure what I'll use it for. Maybe a freedos machine I use as my main driver once a week. -

@ajroach42 @thomasfuchs I've found a lot but I go a lot. 10-20 years ago it was tons easier. But now there are so many ebayers it's hard to find things unless you happen to be right there when things hit the shelves. Memory finds are an early Calypso underwater camera, many HP calculators and pocket PCs, a kapro 2, an old pristine Bally home video game system, and many other vintage non IBM compatibles and various vintage game systems.

@ajroach42 @thomasfuchs So far nothing. Got it last weekend at a thrifstore. $8 USD. All I've done is turned it on, read about it online and searched the name engraved on the back.
Found an obit of a software engineer in the same city. Appears the one owner past away spring of this year.
I think he was the only owner the engraving looks like it was done at the time it was purchased. I bet it was a gift for a life milestone.
I feel a sense of duty to put it to good use now.

I want to tell my wife I'm smarter than she is.
The problem is she's too smart for that.

The problem is she can tell when I'm lying.

@yogthos That was funny. And I haven't heard of that show. Think I'll add it to my watch list.
Thanks!

@thomasfuchs @ajroach42 Last week I picked up an HP 95-lx. The device in this pic is close enough I'm going to borrow it and put a printout in my cube at work.

"Mahadev, who was 28 at the time, was already in her seventh year of graduate school at the University of California, Berkeley"
I barely did 7 years in all my schooling :)

@yogthos I do know chess. Several years worth of tournaments.
This reminds of every time someone says, "He's playing 3d chess." referring to some sort of strategic action when they most likely don't know how to play chess.
I wonder if rocket scientists and brain surgeons feel the same way.

No one needs to starve. No one needs to freeze. No one needs to die. There is enough for everyone. More empty homes than all the people without them, more food than grocers can even sell. The labor and the materials to end scarcity exist now. It is not a far-off dream. We can end scarcity in this life.

@klaatu That's for the show on antimicro. I was just about to install qjoypad on this machine but pick antimicro instead based on this episode.
But I have qjoypad on my other debian 9/stretch and it seems to work ok. Guess I have it pinned to old versions of stuff.

@ohyran I thought I was just razzing you. But this is a GREAT pic. Glad you posted it.
Somehow it seems like it fits many applications. Could server perfectly fine as a shot from a space movie exploring a new planet or an album cover for a cool band.

@simon_brooke @codesections My rule for distros is the same as it is for stocks. Stay away from derivatives. And REALLY stay away from derivatives of derivatives.

@ohyran Is it ethical for you tease in such a manner and not include the pic?
