I guess you can judge how reasonable this is, but ...

I don't pretend already to understand, or even know, everyone's needs.

Anything else strikes me, at best, as ignorant or unimaginative, at worst arrogant or even callous--not just "I know" but also "what I don't know matters so little I don't even acknowledge it."
