@lnxw48a1 Chances are these days if they are claiming they are free software or open source, but roll their own license, they're trying to screw you. -

We have this popular brand of exceptionalism in the mainstream right now, where it's alright to hate on people of certain races as long as it's the *wrong* race, or of people certain genders as long as it's *wrong* gender. This is still racism and this is still sexism. If we allow them to go unchecked, then it's only a matter of time before *you're* the wrong race or the wrong gender, and you're out. This creates cycles of internal conflict in the populace, which while certainly helpful for cretinous people like Trump and Theresa May to stay in power, has no place with people who lay claim to being empathetic and understanding. -

I feel like not enough people focus on the fact that Germany wants to outlaw hosting Tor servers. A significant amount of Tor is hosted from Germany, but more importantly, if Germany outlaws it, many other countries that so far were afraid to do so will follow suite. All intelligence agencies despise Tor and lobby their governments to shut it down. It's a slippery slope.

Perhaps this will help certain people understand why I distrust and dislike people who use the N-word or who use "Jew" as a perjorative. It isn't just a word, it is an excuse to kill people. -

@lain TBH, projects where they stress "we are diverse" tend to be populated with narrow-minded politically-obsessed that make this Black man very uncomfortable. -

@tuxcrafting @nepfag @orekix That's actually pretty new*. Drivers crashing the things was still pretty common until #WinXP SP2 or possibly even SP3.
With Win2K and WinNT, it was more that there weren't as many drivers available. -

I just noticed a couple of subscription requests and dealt with them. If you were waiting a while, it is because I hadn't noticed before. -

Welcome to my world.
I hate the way tech has to be sold as black boxes for consumers afraid of computers to touch them. They are blissfully unaware of the violation possibilities they bring with them for as long as the device(s) do[es] what they want, like playing music or making fart sounds at the behest of a voice command.
I hate the way everything has to be online all the time for things to work. That goes for games as well. As the average consumer doesn't inspect packets within their home network, devices running proprietary code and algorithms are free to send and receive data and there's no proof saying they've done so. There is also no proof saying they have not but that is less likely seeing as it has happened many times before.
People just do not care about what lies beneath. They like the convenience of something they do not actually need. They do not think about the opportunities these devices open up and they do not want to hear bad things about them either. Anything you could tell them goes in one ear and out of the other as what you are saying sounds ludicrous.
They like their little toys and that is all they care about. Let them, it is their natural right, but if they choose not to understand the implications of what it could mean then it is not your fault if they do not listen. -

@chucker GS isn't serving a redirect. It points directly at the final destination, cutting out the middleman because of the privacy concerns.
