@jillybobww my husband’s grandfather used to say ‘I resemble that remark’
There’s too much else to do to clean. I’m sticking firmly by that... (some people manage it but I don’t know how)
@Tdorey the end of her nose is a little heart shape ❤️
Chasing the sun and the moon and finding the trees greeting the day. Can’t help but think of the moon with its all important pull, reflecting light in quiet service, how it fades from our sight, silently and in seconds, with the rising dawn. https://mastodon.social/media/Rc2eyTe-qR8HrNEdT-A https://mastodon.social/media/vUB9SXJ1UyHmHeCJ_rM https://mastodon.social/media/bcTXH1xyyc_loFSQxlk https://mastodon.social/media/HcyJ4k2MDFuSwRQbW4U #gooodmorning
@Gargron @Are0h there's a big difference between active approval, passive disapproval, and active disapproval. Many people live the way they always did, because it's fine in their eyes... and don't see change- sometimes from algorythmic bubbles, but often because they aren't actively looking around.
You know the saying that standing still is going backwards?
Spread like a cobweb. Thin but strong.
Today has been a slog. Seemingly roller coaster of highs and lows. £1400 to spend on ukuleles to give children in LA, paper rejected after nearly 5 months and (less than) helpful comments, good cello, laundry on the floor, ate cake for lunch and I remember that I should sleep sometime.
Where's that 8th day in the week when you really need it?
Concert in t-4 days.
15 min nap then more cello before directing the community orchestra. Here we go

@Downes maybe it's just a recognition. I doubt anyone would actually 'like' someone losing all their communications...
maybe you have some in chains via a sent trail? Maybe the other people can resend. Unlike real letters there are always copies at the other end.
Hope you can recover what you want and need to
@paralithode I love the trees, and soon, before we know it- it will be time for the baby leaves.
They are magic to me.
@Tdorey oh no Tanya! I hope their spirits are up and they aren't in too much pain. Hope you're ok x
@Downes 😶
oh no!
a blog post on music practice: Walking through the daisies or 'Going on a bear hunt'? wp.me/p4Ng5z-11d
@Are0h politics and society- I'm watching from a distance (UK) but when I go back, the differences are SO noticeable. (heading back for a short trip in a week...)
It is insane.
Keep saying the stuff you're saying. :) People need to hear it from as many directions as possible.
@Are0h you are not wrong. So very right (IMO), and getting out of that loop *feels* counterintuitive- against definitions of 'success' and 'worth', but these are so very very not made for the actual good of people.
I tell this to my children in the hopes that it doesn't take them decades to realise this, and then more decades to undo the damage of being surrounded by it all.
‘Where time is light in motion’ - a line in a poem by Ian McMillan on birdsplat today
I really like that- going to think on that to propel me through the day 😊
full poem:
I turn
My non-illuminated face
Towards the bedside clock's
Illuminated face
Where time is light in motion.

made me lol...
walking home from school, 10 yr old says:
XX made everyone quit playing because he said it was a stupid game, but I mean it's not even a 'game', it's a community platform.
!! 😎
@andrawatkins I hope you get to go to him. Glad you managed your stolen snowy New Year, and hope you have all the strength you need in the coming days, for you, for him, and for those around you.
I am so sorry. sending good thoughts to you
@andrawatkins our holiday jigsaw life is slowly being put back into the box. Little one is back to school today... work for me, big ones doing their thing for a day or two more before they leave the nest again.
Tree still up for a few more days... It gets packed away Saturday.
Enjoy the snow!
@charlag some labels are ok - sometimes as we strive to understand, they help, but mainly as reminders or hints or facets - as long as we remember that the facets are one of many mirrors on the disco ball of a person. :)
@voidspace thank you Tim, and yes, I agree
Off to give a workshop on learning today. I use instruments *as a metaphor* and people get to experience doing the learning as completely new, work together, learn without assumptions... lots of good stuff, but at the end of the day 80% of the people (at least) will peg me as a 'musician'. I have to work hard to not let that bring me down. - it's like being called a 'girl' or a 'cook', nobody is one thing and that limitation Shuts The Door.
thinking positive thoughts..
