@Gargron did you know there's a gaggle of us writing a chapter about Mastodon for a book :) Our chapter is called A 'pedagogy of small' in open, online communities: Emerging principles and values.

We're focusing on smallstories as a hashtag (and also talking about another example platform for youths to develop/share/practise writing (https://youngwritersproject.org/). @Tdorey is leading it.

@Gargron at least they are choosing reference to which there is very little 'concrete' story... so they have lots of scope to do whatever. I'm still not even sure if he's supposed to be good or bad!

@Gargron unless they manage to weave Cain in somehow clever... but yes, I agree and hope it hasn't run its course

@Gargron felt like a definite holding pattern... I think they needed filler as they had just introduced a new character, and prob. only have a certain number of episodes planned for the rest of the season with that storyline - didn't want to move it forward too fast...

good thoughts to all going back to the structure of a schedule today, whether at an office, in a shop, or somewhere else.

My structure begins today, sandwich o'clock came while I was still half-asleep, and one by one the household will be called back to meet their schedules over the coming week.

My pledge is to be gentle, to think, to care for others and myself, and to bring a calm with me into the weeks ahead. #thisday

@wentale I knew what she was doing and it made me smile :) I am a collector of old skills and am amazed sometimes by the way people don't realise the ease and use of simple old skill type things.

a short #smallstories in return: when veg was being sold off last week & spuds were 10p for 2.5kg, an old woman sniffed at them and said, but how long will they last?! I looked astonished and explained how to store potatoes, and that they can last months here. There is a lot of truth to simplicity.

@naugeleh another food thing that's great - oat pancakes.

My daughter's concoction:

blitz a 1/2 cup of oats so they become like flour,
add 2/3 cup of milk (we do almond milk),
and 1 egg.

Then dot with fruit of your choice as the pancakes are poured out to cook. We do blueberries or strawberries. :)

@naugeleh OH MY GOODNESS! You made me think of how I miss raisin bread. (my children called it eggy-bready-cook-cook) For some reason our lovely UK normal grocery stores used to sell good raisin bread and they stopped. Maybe it's not a UK thing? they like mixed fruit and spiced fruit here, but good old raisins...

Raisin bread french toast is my favourite :)

As for comfort, I don't think it's comforting here- it's honest here. For me comfort fixes something and there is no need for fixing here. It just is; we just are, and perhaps that is the challenge, because in so many settings that is not what some people look for.

@dogtrax indeed it is. He has at 10 what I'm still working toward at 44 !

Nearly piano o'clock. It's going in my 10y/o's room. As we cleared & moved furniture for it, we sorted 'stuff'. 2 pics: 1. all of his earthly stuff (mostly handed down at least once) & pic 2 is some of what's being given away.

I'd say- oh but you love that shirt, and so did your brother... & he'd say: It's too small & we don't need it. For him, things are like water: useful for their use, and then they flow elsewhere.
