my uni is shut today because of snow. (boo) so I told my students to play in the snow BUT be by their computers at our normal session time and I'll live stream it... over the top? maybe, but they can't be outside ALL day :)

today my youngest is 11. Hard to imagine how time passes - I think I'm going to be permanently 23, possibly forever (yes, that's a double permanent - extra forever).

We have no snow, in fact our palm tree is looking quite resilient against the blue sky.

@ghost_bird keep warm, the cold is nasty and there has been so much illness around this winter.

@maloki when my daughter was little she went through a phase of saying the S word ALL the time- we switched it out for 'jolly' and ended up with lots of giggles instead. :)

It's a community made by those in it. It's true, sometimes there's a lull. don't know why. I think people came to leave a something, and not everyone came, and then maybe the something doesn't seem so bad (but it's the same) so maybe they're there and not here - or maybe life.

Your peace, quiet, acknowledgement of the journey - is part of the community. You are appreciated.

@Downes yep. in a serendipitous way I just turned to p352 of your book (I'm still having a very slow summer book club of one) where you talk about your masters thesis in one sentence :) -it's mainly about learning and non-models and thinking.

there are still smart people out there, but you are right - there's a lot of stuff to sift through and no guide to find them. If we're all hungry to learn, maybe we'll find one another. I've been lucky so far.

@dogtrax a friend of mine recently started printing photos again. To hold in her hands. It is different than digital.... the pixel by pixel made me think of that.

not remembering what's on it, it is like a very slow present that takes 90 mins to open.

I remember listening to it over and over, thinking of the person who made it and that thought kept me going for months. Do we have that now? With insta-everything?

I'm liking visiting that time, even if only for a moment.
