I was planning to set up Hubzilla, but there were some things that must be enabled in the #PHP configuration that I wasn't comfortable with. I may revisit this in the future, but for now, there will not be a !fnetworks Hubz instance. -

@neil @xvu Yeah, RSS and blogs is fine and works well enough for me. It's not federated though, which does make discovery slightly more challenging.
I think you're right about #Hubzilla, though. I tend to think of it as being similar to diaspora or Friendica, in that it's kind of a federated Facebook alternative, but it's actually way more than that.

@carlchenet If I run a single user instance, this is not needed. I can just move my data to another server if I am no longer satisfied with the current provider.
On a personal side, what is it you have with backup accounts? Maybe you should explore projects like #Hubzilla that has a strong emphasis on user account migration.

Das ist doch toll: Die re:publica 2018 findet dieser Tage statt und wenn die Riege der Vortragenden so durchschaut (https://18.re-publica.com/de/speakers) fällt sehr häufig die Begrifflichkeit "Aktivist / Aktivistin".
Wird denn aber auch kritisch beleuchtet wie sehr #Datenschutz, #Sicherheit und #Freiheitsrechte immer weiter ausgehöhlt worden sind? Löblich: Eine Frau Katharina Nocun redete schon mehrfach über die Nutzung dezentraler Systeme. Nur schaut auf ihren Blog (http://kattascha.de/) ist dort wenig zu sehen von #Diaspora, #Friendica, #Hubzilla, #GNUsocial, #Mastodon, #Libertree, #MediaGoblin, #Pleroma und Anderen. Nein dort werden deutlichst nur #Facebook, #Twitter und #Instagram als Interaktionsmöglichkeiten angeboten.
Und wieso zelebriert man das Ganze weiter, von Jahr zu Jahr? Netzpolitik.org in allen Ehren, aber wäre es nicht auch dort im Interesse die dezentralen Systeme nach vorne zu bringen? Schaut man sich dann einzelne Artikel mit den Kontaktinformationen der jeweiligen Autoren an: Wiederum das gleiche Bild wie auch bei Frau Nocun. Was möchte man da besprechen? Die "digitale Gesellschaft"? So einfach wie simpel: Ihr macht es euch zu einfach und wer nicht will, der hat auch schon. Letztendlich lebt man da sorgenfrei mit dem Credo "Wasser predigen, aber Wein saufen!" schlicht wie einfach weiter. Und genau deswegen ist das auch nur eine Veranstaltung mit großteils nur Lippenbekenntnissen. Letztendlich nochmals die Fragestellung: Wird beleuchtet wie dezentral die "digitale Gesellschaft" sein müsste, um überhaupt Schritt halten zu können und sich selbst auch verteidigen zu können, wehrhaft demokratisch zu sein? Einfache Antwort: Leider NEIN! #republica-2018 #Gedanken #Meinung -

Also, check my history, there was a discussion of #Hubzilla, which I was interested in for this purpose - it already implements #ActivityPub (and a bunch of other federated protocols).

1. Regain composure after moving live installation from subdomain to https://cni-coop.net (still trying to get old channels be visible).
2. Make it as federated as possible, including all protocols available.
3. Set up project channels/profiles structure so we can use it to coordinate work and support related to our activity.
4. Create hub-wide donation system.
Practical help will be highly appreciated.
