The conversation begins. #sonOne's employer has a discount agreement with a cell provider. He's willing to take over #GS1's phone bill. He offered to take over mine, but I reminded him that my bill bundles other family members including #sonTwo and his wife.

I'm up late. But that's okay. I was still up when #sonTwo called.

@mangeurdenuage #sonOne lives in Kansas; #sonTwo lives in Florida, #Daddy_A lives in Arizona, and I live in California.

--I really wanted to see (released on #sonTwo's birthday.--
That's sweat.
--mostly because I don't want to go alone--
I guess that I don't want myself to go alone to the cinema, last friend that I had near me is now in japan and the closest one is in paris.
Nowadays for me it's more of a budget and time problem.
I don't know how much a ticket cost where you are but I can't have a ticket for less than 12euros.
-- so all four of us saw it the same day in different parts of the country--
You get often away from your family ?
-
@mangeurdenuage I don't go very often myself, mostly because I don't want to go alone. But I made an exception for a movie I really wanted to see (released on #sonTwo's birthday, so all four of us saw it the same day in different parts of the country).
-
@moonman I normally don't go to see any movies in theaters because I don't want to go alone. But when one of the Star Wars movies came out on #sonTwo's birthday, he went alone in FL and I went alone in MO. If you really want to see that movie, go see it.
-
@zacts Rohnert Park is too far away. I'd try it if they were closer to me. #sonTwo and his wife would definitely try it if it was near them.

Got a text message from #lazyNephew, who hasn't initiated SMS conversation since 2017-06-05. "... could you possibly spare 150 bucks? ..."
I'm not going to respond, but if I had an extra $150, I'd put it aside until I had a little over $300, then send a Nintendo #Switch to #sonTwo or #Daddy_A.

#sonTwo and his wife got tattoos today as part of their delayed honeymoon. I'm wondering whether they're going to try to surprise me by showing up in #MO on my birthday.
-
Was going to call the talkative kid, but I remembered that #sonTwo is on a late honeymoon until my birthday.
-
#sonTwo recently said that being in #SoFlo for Hurricane #Irma showed him something. When he was home in #SoCal, the fact that "the Big One" might happen at any time meant that we always made an effort to have stored food, water, pet food, and to have fuel in the vehicles. Because storms can often be forecast days ahead, #Florida residents tend wait until the last minute to prepare.
-
@moonman I used to eat Red Hots and Lemonheads together. I can't say whether they'd still be good decades later. #sonTwo used to eat Warheads, but I thought they were too sour.
-
I shared this remark with #sonTwo, who commented that he's rarely heard me use the term. Though he agrees with the sentiment, he wishes I had used a less "salty" term.
-
@awg @sim I'm definitely not a #telephone person (even though I talk to #sonTwo just about every day), but known to stop by an occasional #mumble.

In the mid-1980s, I moved to an area where television reception was almost impossible without cable. Since then (except for a period in the mid-1990s when I spent a lot of time at a friend's place), I have not been much of a TV-watcher. I also haven't been much of a movie-watcher since the 1980s, except for a few years during #sonOne's adolescence, when "weekly Wednesday movie" was a way to guarantee that we spent more time together.
Of course, there are some exceptions. I saw several big name kid movies with #sonTwo and his friends. For a couple of years, we watched Will Smith's then-latest blockbuster on July 4th. I also watched a few movies with my old best friend (now deceased) and his brother.
I spent too much time and energy on work and college / university studies, so I often wasn't really present, even when I was sitting in a theater.
So, for different reasons than @katiekats, I'm not at all familiar with most of the media that most of the people around me (either in the workplace or in the tech world) make reference to.

#GS1 tells me his mobile device is acting up. I respond by saying I just spent all my available funds, so I cannot replace it. I'm waiting for him to lob it back over the net, so I can suggest that he and #sonOne should visit the local store for the cellular carrier and purchase a used phone.
They'll still need to call me (or #sonTwo, since I made him account manager) for approval to change devices on the account, but I'll be glad to do it.

The comment about the library-sponsored 5K run reminds me of the school where #sonTwo and #Daddy_A attended middle and high school. Their students tended to be heavier than the students at other schools in the area, to the point where most kids had food nicknames ("Beans" "Bacon" "Pepperjack" "Cottage Cheese" etc) ... one year, they had a yearlong thing to train students to run in a marathon. (Mine did not participate after I said it was too far a distance in too short of a preparation time.)

#sonTwo and his wife now have electricity. I think the only thing that could make him happier would be if the next year's World Series was a freeway series (Angels vs Dodgers).
-
Me: Which of you guys gets the first #Switch?
#sonOne: Don't buy me that. It costs too much. Buy something for yourself.
#sonTwo: sonOne's birthday is coming. Send it to him.
#Daddy_A: (Has not answered yet.)
See why I like it when I can get something for these guys?

#sonTwo and wife are discovering the 1800s, as they have no electricity, minimal and intermittent cellular service, no Internet due to former #hurricane #Irma
