    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/28532190/why-does-windows-handle-scrollbars-in-kernel

Windows handles scrollbars in the kernel.
Windows, a modern operating system, handles scrollbars, those clicky-draggy things on the side of windows, in the kernel.
Windows, a modern, widely-used operating system, handles scrollbars, those clicky-draggy things on the side of windows, in the kernel, the part of the OS with the highest privilege, the part that is needed for... literally everything.

people who say that the gender pay gap exists because men and women prefer different kinds of work miss the question of why the kind of work that women do is valued less than traditional "men's work"

coincidentally all of growth in the near future's labour market is going to be low-paid work: factories, domestics, service etc, which are also the lowest paid jobs

this is why it's silly to try to separate class politics from identity politics

@cocoron I think it was Engels who also said something about how as automation gets more sophisticated this allows more expensive male labor to be replaced by less expensive and more casualized female and child labor.

Please rmemeber that Microsoft is sharing tons of patents with trolls who casually sue GNU/Linux when they will write another "we  Linux" tweet.

I contemplated the automatic consensus routing protocol idea for the !Freedombone mesh, but thought better of it. There could be some failure modes, and maybe you just want to run a minority protocol anyway.

Much wrangling later I've added another desktop icon which allows you to select between BMX6 (the default) and OLSR2. The selection lists the number of peers on each protocol, so that it's possible to make an informed choice. https://social.freedombone.net/attachment/75350

@deadsuperhero Looking at the headlines I expect it's because these are mostly oriented towards corporate interests and professional developers/admins, i.e. running large scale cloud systems with continuous integration. Not the type of thing which an average Linux user might be concerned with.

The Pleroma off-site image link got fixed and I made a test account, which seems to work as expected. So it's back in !Freedombone again.

On the section 702 stuff, I don't really grok how the best possible outcome is that Americans get some limited privacy but the rest of the world is fair game for the most invasive personal surveillance. Privacy is a fundamental right for everyone, not just a right specifically of Americans.
