When a DnD style allignment game succeeds with morality, you'd logically take most choices as evil if you're evil, and good if you're good, so it works itself out. If you don't, or in the situations where there's no right answer, that's why there's the variations on each level (Chaotic, true, lawful) and a potential neutral.
Paragon and Renegade? It oft doesn't make any sense to go 'all in' but you -have to- or suffer gimping yourself.
-
Generally I prefer games that are more morally ambigious and such. 'Grey' choices per say. In which it's more about your personal principles.
But I can enjoy "Evil or good?" cos sometimes...that's just fun. When they go to the extremes. It can be played well, usually only when the game doesn't really take itself seriously. When it does the very DnD style of good, neutral, bad, and the variations of that, which to be fair...is more complex than just evil or good.
The Paragon and Renegade system, you have to go all in to actually do well. But every situation is different. If you applied a fully good character they might still make some renegade choices, and a fully bad one might still make some paragon choices.

The more I look back on it, the more I hate the Paragon/Renegade system in Mass Effect.

@maiyannah
Yeah, hence it just being...okay, to me. the cinematography I mentioned, is what 'saved' it for me. It was very nice to look at, and had some real nice camera shots. It's just a shame that was wasted on a film that couldn't really back it up in other areas.

"Analysts Blame Poor Marketing For 'Solo' Box Office Failure, Not Fatigue/Backlash"
I didn't hate Solo as much as some did (thought it was distincly average overall. Drab acting and uninspired plot, but some great cinematography and action sequences)
But...this sort of thing is ridiculous.
Sometimes filmgoers just don't like a film, aren't excited for the premise, etc. Blaming marketing seems a bit ridiculous since...
Anecdotal, but I saw a shit-ton of it.
It's a fucking Star Wars film, you could release no trailers or posters at all and 90% of the population would still know about it.
-
Also the main protagonists are female.
Same with Annihilation as far as I know.
Widows has a bunch of hype from people, and Annihilation was very well received.
It's almost like female led films can be good when they're not just pandering and expecting to be good only on the virtue of being all female *thinking*

"Jeremy Renner’s Arms in ‘Tag’ Are Made of CGI Because He Broke Them During Filming"
Way to one-up Henry Cavills CGI moustache removal.

New releases should only ever fail for not being good in it's own right.
Shouldn't be lambasted for "not being the old thing" because they're not -trying- to be the old thing.
To take us to the Fallout:76 thing, people aren't too excited for that cos it's got the Fallout name on it. So if it's totally different and not in a way they like, it's still a part of the Fallout series.
Hell, with Andromeda, much as I personally liked it. Those who didn't like it because it was so radically different from the original trilogy, does make some degree of sense. It's still got the Mass Effect name on it, so it's compared.
With Anthem...it's not in a series. If it ends up doing things -badly- then fair enough. But it shouldn't be judged purely on "it's not [this thing it has no link to]"
-
Anthem might be bad, it might be good. Honestly dunno yet.
But it deserves the shot to be it's own thing.

"Why I Hope BioWare's 'Anthem' Is Secretly A 'Mass Effect' Game"
No. Just, no.
-
Tho also I'm admittedly on the train of wanting to see Miles Morales as Spidey in stuff other than comics. That too.
-
@maiyannah
It's teaser trailer was great, while any of these others that had one...didn't have a good teaser either.
So there's hope at least.
-
The trailer for Into the Spiderverse, is apparently out tomorrow.
I'm actually excited for that one sooo.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be better than the recent trailers for other films.
-
Also is it possible for someone/something to be not known by -loads- of people, but still be overrated?
Cos Garfunkel and Oates are ridiculously overrated.
I really...do not find them funny, and I've tried.
-
I don't think I like any of his films other than finding those...okay.
But even then very overrated.
-
Peter Jackson is really riding off LoTR.
-
I really adore Star Wars as a whole.
But...seriously, dislike of the new films doesn't mean the originals/prequels are suddenly wayyyy better than you remember.
On the other hand, yeah they probably don't deserve -all- the hatred that comes their way, especially prequels.
We can work out a good way to criticize without...blatant hatred or blatant adoration.
Some people seem to assume that as soon as you stop loving something you have to hate it, and as soon as you stop hating something you have to love it.
That's...not true.

@maiyannah
Really cute hair also very pretty has a badass outfit, Katie finds her hot, plus she has brilliant magic power stuff and glowy eyes when fighting people...woman.
...Too long?
-
@maiyannah
I won't darling <3 gotta stick with you after all.
Was just a way to say that trailer was...really...really bad.
-
I have seen, some really crappy, over the top, cliche films.
I have -enjoyed- some really crappy, over the top, cliche films, when they don't take themselves seriously and riff on the fact a whole bunch.
That Mortal Engines trailer was...too much even for me.
