@semordnilap I mean, sure if your ISP blocks the BitTorrent protocol, or you intend to do some not-legal or quasi-legal things, a VPN or proxy are good. But I'm just seeding some Debian ISOs, so who cares?
@cassidyjames I didn't find it memorable in the least though. Can't remember a single song from that movie that wasn't in a different star wars movie in some form.
@DashEquals This is just my lukewarm take, but I find it's helpful to take regular vacations from most social media from time to time.
I can also recommend liberal use of the mute button for people get heavy-handed with their own opinion.
Another useful tactic I find, is to set up an alt account on a less politically orientated instance.
Unlike most other social media, the #Fediverse doesn't hold your hand or wrap you in cotton wool, so we need to be responsible for our own mental well being.
**Anchorage hits 90 degrees for first time in recorded history**
"With Alaska in the midst of an unprecedented heat wave that experts say is driven by the climate crisis, Anchorage—the state’s largest city—reached an all-time high temperature of 90 degrees…"
I miss the era where #email was a big deal and the primary means of electronic text communication, before the advent of #IRC, #IM apps and #SMS messaging.
It’s cool Rowling’s publishers changed the philosopher’s stone to the sorcerer’s stone for American readers. For us, thinking hard is a kind of sorcery
@alchemyjones Well lucky for us, humans could not feel the earthquake that far away, but you could still observe the effects such as conference room equipment shaking and vibrating slightly. Animals can certainly detect it.
But its the actual wafer processing equipment that is super sensitive. It doesn't take much vibration at all (below the ability for humans to detect naturally) to trip seismic sensors and shut things down.
