2/2 They are of course opposed to #algos in some way because that implies something like transparency. I can point at the #algo and say *why* it is there in concrete terms and if it isn't working, we can tweak that. It is a process we can all talk about, set goals and think about it democratically. But editors are natural autocrats and this offends them. This is why you see such #m5m scum doing what they do, because it is always about ego and masturbation.

While I am in a ranting mood, I'm going to expound a bit:

Once upon a time, I worked for a news organization here in Washington DC that caters to the Swamp crowd exclusively.

Editorial staff are the most insufferable human beings on the planet. Their very raison d'etre is based on self-importance. They can't explain to how or why they seem to know what should be on the front page, but they are ego invested in their capacity to achieve this magic.

But given what I know about Palm Spings historically, my guess would be that it has less to do with those folks being black and more to do with the other people being rich snobs who don't want to see lower classes of any color.

@Geir_Pariah I enjoy both of those content producers, although I have a more cynical take on the Late Night comedians: It makes them money and reinforces their social hierarchy.
