gnu/social seems to hold mastodon in low esteem because of their *perceived* lack of values. clearly their focus on growth means they don't give a fuck about the freedom software values that make gnu/social the superior social network. you know, except the part where #mastodon is licensed AGPL. they only thing they *don't* do is use software freedom as a marketing tool.
It is always funny to see people try to do the same nonsense with apk-tools that they would with other package managers and then eventually discover that the obvious way of doing what they wanted was the way to do it all along.

from what Googlers have told me, if another project explicitly wants you, they can request your transfer.
this is what i am talking about. you have to actively sell yourself to the teams you actually want to be on, and then eventually you'll be released to them.

i mean, i have done work *for* Google, but it was as a subcontractor, and frankly the people I had the pleasure of interacting with there were all shitty
honestly Microsoft was/is the least unpleasant of that bunch. IBM is also pretty okay.
(but this is from the perspective of subcontracting, perhaps it is shitty at those firms too)
