@joaojotta yeah, there's no getting away from YouTube really. An alternative just doesn't exist.

Word from the (now) wise - DO NOT attempt to host a Nextcloud instance on shared hosting as it will result in a very angry "FRAUD" email from your tech support team. 😂😂😂
Bad news is that my Nextcloud instance is now deleted (along with all my data - it's backed up). So I've just ordered a Nextcloud hosting package from OwnCube.

@kamme @mike what I have come to realise, is that there is no "ultimate password manager".
You want cloud syncing? You're gonna have to give up some privacy and accept the risks associated with someone else storing your data.
You want more privacy and control? You're gonna have to accept that there's a usability and complexity that goes with that decision.
I ended up going with the latter and opted for Keepass. I'll do a full write up on my setup when I get time.

OK, OK. My De-Googling has put me on a self-hosted path to incredibleness - Lastpass is now also a thing of the past for me.

I'm pretty sure almost every Firefox user has used a theme made by this gentle woman: https://blog.mozilla.org/internetcitizen/2017/06/05/madonna-firefox-theme-designer/

@wion I'd assume that the tail flipping was just it's nervous system shutting down. It was probably well dead by that point. Something like that would have killed it pretty must instantly I think.

So then, aside from #Linux and #FOSS what are the fine people of Mastodon in to?
Away from technology, I enjoy:
- Motorcycles
- Fish Keeping
- Body Art (tattooing)
- Walking and Running.Now you go...

@MooShoe @tootdon @Tusky I bounce between a number of apps. Tootdon, Tusky and Mastalab really. Tusky I about the best I think.

I don't really understand how @tootdon is nearly 45MB in size, when @Tusky is less than 1.5MB and does the same thing. Why is #Tootdon so huge?

@BarefootWarrior @ignitionigel yeah, it's that kind of thing that really frustrates me about some open source projects - they're just badly implemented, or not thought out.

@BarefootWarrior @33Nicolas @ignitionigel @animeirl interesting, I don't recall seeing that on their site. I wonder if it's still true?

@BarefootWarrior @ignitionigel see, messing around with magnification and fonts is exactly what I don't want. If something doesn't work right out of the box, I'm not interested in tinkering to make it work. I'm too busy for all that.

@BarefootWarrior @33Nicolas @ignitionigel @animeirl I don't think Bitwarden is sponsored by MS, not that I've read at least? Their infrastructure is managed by them, which means they pay MS to look after all their servers. I assume it's Azure.
Many sites use Azure, I don't see that as a problem personally. What worries me more, is that I can't find any evidence of them going through security auditing.

@animeirl @kev @ignitionigel @33Nicolas
BitWareden uses a remotely hosted database and development is sponsored by Micro$oft whatever that may mean.The whole idea here was to get off of the web and maintain full local control.
But thanks for the suggestion.
