Does anyone know in this fine community how to import Disqus comments to WordPress?
I see thgat Disqus has a sync feature, but it doesn't seem to be working.

@codesections I think that's a good summary of the position @mike and I want the community to be in.
On a personal note, I think it's important to have someone (in our case two people) to make the final decision. Firstly, because I think it's important for any project to have lead(s), and secondly, I think someone needs to be held accountable for those decisions. Those those decisions are made with good intentions, it's usually trivial to justify them.

@codesections it's 06:45 - that made my brain hurt. I don't know about you guys, but that's wayyyy too formal for me. @mike

@r3pek @sheogorath access logs aren't recorded. I do record IP addresses for analytics, but the last 2 octets are obfuscated.

@brandon what's the point in sharing this? Is it not just perpetuating the issue? Ignore, report, move on...

@tdemin true. But some people want the convenience of being able to easily respond from the page they're currently on. I dunno.

@dan I can write more long-form in there. I love to ramble, so 500 characters isn't enough some of the time. 😊

@sproid that's what would put me off removing them. I've always thought that if people are kind enough to come and read the garbage I write about, the least I can do is give them a forum to respond. 😁

@sheogorath as I understand it, if you use a 3rd party for comments (I use Disqus), it's them that's required to be GDPR compliant as they're handling and storing the data.
Take that with a pinch of salt though, as I'm far from a GDPR expert.
With regards to analytics, that can be fixed by anonymising IP addresses. Personally, I obfuscate the last 2 octets.

@vinzv what would that other path have looked like, do you think?

@randynose I don't want to get rid of them, I'm just considering it - I think it's important to always be objective and question yourself.
Couple of reasons I'm considering it; as you say, the obvious spam/trolls, server side complexity, less Javascript, I use Disqus, so more control with my visitor's data too.
The obvious downside is lack of direct feedback ony posts.

@algernon I do get regular comments on about half of my posts I'd say. But I do get spam, trolls etc. Also, like you said, server side complexity and tracking when it comes to Disqus.

Thinking about removing comments from my blog. Do you have comments on your blog? If so why, or why not?
