@devurandom It's technically illegal to deface any banknote in the UK anyway:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Currency_and_Bank_Notes_Act_1928
It *is* okay to be white, but not to be a racist nob.

Embarrassed the other day while in a restaurant in a relatively cosmopolitan city to pull a Β£10 note from home out of my wallet. It had "It's okay to be white!" written across the bottom.
People must think we're all racist nutters around here.

@NadiaHawks There must be so many queer people hiding in closets in these smaller towns.

Since I talked about browsers there are lots of people sliding into my mentions to recommend something called "Brave."
I've never heard of it, but it seems to be a browser that pays you to surf and replaces web ads with its own.
Is it one of those things like the annoying Giffgaff mobile network, where you get people constantly recommending it because they get affiliate kickback?

I want to be an out queer person. I'm tired of my closet.

Nigel Johnson, commentating on fans throwing paper planes and toilet rolls at Leeds United v Stoke City for BBC Radio Stoke:
"It's not a baptism of fire here at Elland Road, it's a baptism of litter."

I've been strongly considering joining the Labour Party for some time, because I'm increasingly concerned about the increasingly unequal society we're breeding in this country, and the rise of the far right.
The news about the attack on the left-wing bookshop in London made me finally press the button. Instead of sitting on here moaning, I want to do something to bring in a government that's going to help fix the country's issues and the inequality that ultimately leads to fascism.

For all the radio I've listened to over the years, I can't remember ever buying anything I've heard advertised on the air.
I've literally been stealing commercial radio all these years.

@thamesynne @porsupah I'm actually on Giffgaff because it's cheaper than others, and I like being able to go up and down each month depending on how much data I need. Away every weekend of the month, I take out more data than if I'm home all month.
But I've never even tried to get someone else to sign up - they have a clever business model involving getting idiots to be their marketers for a tiny kickback for each SIM

@bobstechsite @paul @switchingsocial I am no tech expert, but couldn't the rendering and JS engine alone be stripped out of an open-source modern browser (let's say Chromium for argument's sake) and placed into a non-creepy free software browser?

@bobstechsite @paul @switchingsocial
So we have:Firefox - sending requests to CloudFlare
Chrome - sending everything to Google
Opera - sending everything to Google because it's Chrome with a wig on, plus a recent big mystery investment from a Bitcoin firm
Vivaldi - another Chrome in a bad wig, closed-source but free so god knows how they make a living
Ignoring IE/Edge and Safari because they aren't available on my chosen OS. There needs to be a not creepy and not shit browser.

Over the years, most of the queer people I know have either been from, or moved to, places like Manchester or London.
Cheaper places to live tend to be less tolerant, for some reason. Cities that are tolerant and welcoming for people of different backgrounds have a much higher cost of living, because many people prefer to live in diverse places rather than little towns full of bigots.
It's almost like a queer tax - extra money you have to pay to be able to live as an out queer person.
