@thaj Yeah, granted I've only tried with old games. I can wait for years to play most games, so I'm not sure I'll run into compat issues any time soon.

I just upgraded my GPU, and I'm playing games at high and ultra settings for the first time. It's kind of exciting for me, and would be moreso if I had days of free time to <strike>waste</strike> spend on gaming.

So I tried Steam Play, with the Proton backend, last night. I was able to play BioShock and Kingdoms of Amalur like a charm, and it even mapped my Logitech xbox-style controller perfectly. I don't keep up with the latest releases, so I haven't tried with, say, Red Dead or God of War.

I really don''t know what to ask of #linux #gaming at this point, it's just so perfect. I guess native cross-platform AAA releases would be a nice-to-have, but for my casual gaming, this is a great place to be.

Does anybody have a favourite resource for learning about BSD's device handling system? I'm looking for the #BSD equivalent of HAL/udev/Systemd.device (from a mostly-user perspective; looking to utilize it in a script, not hack on its code).

If there are several to choose from, my primary interest is in #NetBSD.

Basically, you want to capture the pillars of your neighbouring society. To attack another player, though, you must have the favour of a god. There's a bidding mechanic to decide who a god favours. Then there's a batlte. And then you have to decide what to do with your captured pillar.

So it's a battle poker game.

@rabbitclaw Weird thing is, there's a mobile app for BGG.com so apparently somebody out there felt like it was easier to develop an app than it was to refactor the site's front end.

@Jason_Dodd I've been through several self-service airports and conference registrations in the past few days, and I gotta say, removing humans from service industry jobs IS NOT WORKING. It's insanely frustrating to be staring at a dumb kiosk at 4am, in the morning, that's rendering an error with no details and no recourse.

I'm not saying all humans are necessarily smarter than that, but at least you can try to reason with them.

@ddipaola @bhtooefr I'm still waiting for an e-ink mobile.

@michal I run an instance of Nextcloud for family stuff, and one for a small business I'm involved with on the periphery. It's fantastic. Pretty easy to host, with lots of cool features that keep getting cooler every month.

It's easier if you have a dedicated server, but I have run it on a super-cheap VPS before.
