The extra high strength MDMA pills are in circulation again around the UK.

They can contain 150-200mg MDMA *each*. This is 3 times the normal adult dose.

If you or your friends take these (especially if you are experimenting for the first time) take only a quarter of the tablet, sip water regularly and wait 2 hours before redosing.

That could be the difference between a good time and ending up in the Emergency Department, or worse.

@natecull @tomasino here in coastal East Anglia you have the windward side of a ship, and the leeward side (pronounced "looward" in the old dialect).

Of course we know that "pissing into the wind" won't end well, which is one reason why British people often refer to going to the *loo* when they visit the WC, even on land (in older buildings often in a separate room to the bathroom) ๐Ÿšพ ๐Ÿšฝ

This is the rest of the equipment we used - was a mixture of DOS and Win95 software on the computers, and they were a real bear to set up (especially the MID interfacing and dealing with audio storage/transfer of files) compared to modern ones (find it hard to believe that it was all 20 years ago)

@weirdoslam @nev in late 1990s/early 00s I helped a friend set up a studio to make breakcore/hardtek/drum and bass crossovers, we couldn't afford a 909 but as well as sampled drums had this thing (that was fed into an analogue effects unit). also we'd record things like digeridoos made from similar drainpipes the Northern lad used, metal and other items being dropped from height to concrete floor, trains and other random noises...

@gemlog I remember several versions of the track, including various 12" (Maxi) remixes, although you had to listen to Capital Radio London to hear those and they were the USA/Canada import remixes (which had less of the German rapping) rather than the European ones (from which Falco's live performances were derived)

@plsburydoughboy I remember spending near ยฃ1000 in 1998 for a PC that could edit video (and you still needed to ingest from Hi8 or SVHS tape and then play the project back out to tape and had to be careful not to run out of hard drive space)

Certainly in the UK (GDPR is unaffected by Brexit) andprobably in other European countries too there is already reliable *free* online advice for voluntary groups about GDPR compliance.

I'm not an expert on this but have to deal with it for work, for Mastodon I think the new functionality to download your data is a *big* step towards compliance (and won't go unnoticed by regulators, especially with FR govt having involvement with at least one instance)

@jjg this already happens in some bits of England but more for "library type" services such as music downloads that aren't directly provided by the local library, as well as services which are such as reserving books, checking which ones you have on loan / return dates / renewals etc..

Got a new mod (keeping the pen type things for backup, they are a bit underpowered and accu runs down quick) - and a couple of cheap MTL tanks (Aspire K2 1,6 R coils) so I can switch flavours as well as spare coils etc.

I will have to be careful with this mod at work, I can get away with vaping in the office if I work evenings but this puts out quite some clouds, might set of the smoke detectors ๐Ÿ˜ฑ.

Even managed to customise the logo, feel like I've achieved something lol

@gamehawk I've just checked, and its not even consistent what happens - eg I get a screen of videos suggesting I could watch/listen to recent tracks from one of my favourite Volksmusic performers (Takeo Ischi), but clicking on any just says "not available". It would have been better for the warning to appear on the index site that "you can only view this channel in Germany" (which I suspect to be the case).

there were quite a few BBC Masters at my high school from 1986 onwards (replacing Model B's).

The numeric keyboard had * and # like a phone (for viewdata). They were networked, I coded a RAT using one which I concealed using the start screen of a legit wordprocessing app, a * would reload the (legit) WP screen (if a teacher was watching), # was the RAT control menu (it could even look into keyboard buffers of any other machine and thus obtain passwords) ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ€ ๐Ÿ•ต๐Ÿฝ

@cypnk @bob a lot of the backlash is because homeless folk have changed demographics from the "harmless old tramp[1]" to younger people who might more obviously show the signs of drug use.

A drugs outreach worker I know from birbsite described the UK as "The Phillipines of Europe". Not a complete exaggeration, as users are often given the option "get clean by "cold turkey/abstinence", or "stay out on the streets and die".

@mooncake even before Trumpf and the paranoia against refugees etc I read on *electronics/tech* sites/blogs that they were nicking folk for *repairing mobile phones and laptops*, especially Apple devices!

BTW Apple have 30+ years of co-operation with ICE/Feds, look up the history of their pushback against the Pineapple (Taiwanese apple II clone) if you want confirmation (they even openly admitted to it to a 1980s tech magazine)
