    Free as in Freedom (2.0) by Sam Williams, Paperback, available now. This book is Richard M. Stallman's revision of the original biography. While preserving Williams's viewpoint, it includes factual corrections and extensive new commentary by Stallman, as well as new prefaces by both authors written for the occasion.

    @sehnsucht @anthk @Shufei I guess PocketCHIP was such a niche product for kind of geeks that they did not have a very high number of sales (and the price was more on the lower side too). I loved the concept, would have been great to see that device developing further.

    @sehnsucht Yeah, that's kind of a niche linux with musl libc and openrc. It's amazing how lightweight it is. And it's surely for more advanced users, not for linux beginners... :D

    @feld @matt Yep, I'm not fan of atom either... The problem is that I like the design of the Sony P11 Z, which was discontinued and around 2009-10 those intel atoms were the latest options for such a device. I'm still wondering though how let's say an atom Z550 @2.00 GHz would play a 5 Gig 1080p movie on Linux... (interestingly my very old Pentium IV desktop machine has no issues with it, works like a charm).

    @cameron I found an Alphasmart to buy. But did not do it so far.
    That Emate did not have a long life for sure:

    "The eMate was introduced March 7, 1997 for US$799 and was discontinued along with the Apple Newton product line and its operating system on February 27, 1998."

    Nice features though: It lasted up to 28 hours!! (And had a Stylus)

    I was thinking about buying an older Intel Atom device. But I'd say definitely no, I just won't buy a single core computer 2018.

    @nergal Hubzilla is awesome but if I remember correctly the lead developer (Macgirvin) just announced that he'll focus on a different project. But the concept is great. However I'm afraid it won't solve any of the current issues with the web. It might be a nice social networking tool on a different web though. I'm not familiar with fastcompany.

    Can someone maybe name a Mini-Laptop/Subnotebook like the Sony P11 Z series (preferably at least five years old models, (8" max 10") with good CPU performance?

    I like those P11 Z devices but the intem atom CPUs just do not offer proper speed (@ 1.33).

    @nergal Yeah, I should have mentioned lynx as terminal browser, which works with gopher out-of-the-box.
    Actually I was thinking about building a new, better web instead of the tracking/ads/spyware shithole as it became now. We could start on the remains of Chaosnet and gopher.

    Browser Spyware

    I always wanted to read a browser-comparison (analysis) like on this site:

    https://spyware.neocities.org/articles/

    According to that site the following browsers are recommended:
    - Qutebrowser
    - Otter Browser
    - GNU IceCat

    Also, if you consider the hints:
    - Falkon
    - Iridium
    - Pale Moon

    - Not on the list: Ungoogled Chromium

    * Install instructions for the Qutebrowser:
    https://github.com/qutebrowser/qutebrowser/blob/master/doc/install.asciidoc

    * Otter Browser install instructions:
    https://github.com/OtterBrowser/otter-browser#install

    * GNU IceCat:
    https://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/gnuzilla/60.2.0/
