Couldn't get Dropbox to refund me the rest of the year since they're only supporting extra for Linux after November. So I took my payment in the form of occupying their support person for about an hour with a discussion about environmentalism and why she and her Co workers should look into joining the service employees international union.

@Algot Hello! Nice to meet you. I'll look into 3D printing. Currently I'm planning on starting an "Open Media Lab" for the kids to work with. With Linux running on the laptops and all kinds of graphics/audio/video software for them to play around with. :)

Using this earbud to listen to audiobooks has made me realize just how bad my hearing is in my left ear as opposed to my right. 🤔

Thinking about installing a separate #IIIF server with the library's omeka-s install to facilitate on-the-fly tiling with #UniversalViewer. I've played around with #Cantaloupe so far. Likes easy to setup, self-contained server. Dislikes: Java based. Anyone have any recommendations for an up-to-date IIIF server written in #python? Or other suggestions. #library

Pretty excited that my library will be switching to the #open_source#ILS #Koha in the spring!!! 😍

@andrewjbtw Worst case I could format a sparse zVol and format that ext4. But I'm no longer willing to do that for Dropbox.

@andrewjbtw I just have my Dropbox on a ZFS pool.
This has really ticked me off! This is what they're claiming

There's an amazing number of #ActivityPub #alternatives now available or under development:
Twitter -> @Mastodon and #Pleroma
Instagram -> @pixelfed and @anfora
YouTube -> #PeerTube ( @Chocobozzz )
Soundcloud -> @funkwhale
MeetUp -> @GetTogetherComm
Medium -> #Plume ( @BaptisteGelez )
Reddit -> @prismo and Anancus ( @tuxether )
LinkedIn -> @cloutstream
Google Calendar -> @calendar_social
Anything missing from the list? What else is needed?

Looks like as of November #Dropbox is only supporting Ext4 file systems on Linux. 😟 Checking into #SpiderOak and other alternatives.

Yes. Mirrors provide data redundancy like RAID. You get more flexibility at the cost of storage. There is also RAID available in zfs called raidz as well. It is not recommended to build zfs on top of raid. ZFS appears to be better than hardware RAID at data integrity

I would recommend sticking with mirrors though. They are easier to upgrade down the road. ZFS will grow automatically in to the size of the smallest drive in the mirror

@hairylarry
If you're interested in backing up your ZFS system sanoid comes with an application called syncoid that syncs the snapshots between ZFS pools. ZFS has an utility called ZFS send that allows you to send a ZFS snapshot to another zfs pool. This can also be done incrementally with "-i" which is what syncoid is doing. -

So I actually have a donor giving the library about 9 GB worth of scanned documents. We haven't gotten to the point where we have created a form for them to sign. I'd like to make the contents of the archive public domain or #creativecommons of some kind. Anyone have a link to some samples of documents I could use to achieve this? #archives
