You know, it's funny how activities connected to prostitution are usually illegal, but massage parlours are fine (at least the ones that don't offer "something extra"). Physically speaking, there is probably more touching during a massage than during sexual intercourse with a prostitute.

The specific body parts involved seem to make all the difference. If a customer somehow gets an orgasm from a massage, has the masseuse become a prostitute?

    — She told me that he first thing people did when they saw her trapped in the wreck was to take pictures of her. She asked them to quit and get help instead. I'm shocked that people didn't help. It's not okay to carry on like that, says Anna Nilsson, chief of traffic in Sundal Transport and the driver's superior to VG [a newspaper in Norway].

They don't write about this side of Norway in the international press...

Today I'm shooting a film for a customer. United Screens at MESH Oslo is letting me borrow their studio, a bunch of gear and a Canon EOS C100, which produces HD footage that basically looks like a movie. I rarely get to use a camera where I take a look at the video files and have nothing to complain about in terms of the quality.

The moment I walk into the Oslo City shopping mall, I get the intense urge to leave it as quickly as possible. There are malls that don't give me this urge. What makes Oslo City particularly awful is that it's always hot, crowded and noisy. How can anyone endure such a place for more than 10 minutes? Most of the shops seem to be for women. Maybe that's a clue. Do women somehow LIKE this hell on earth? Ladies, do your man a favour: Leave him at home. He'll thank you.

They keep renaming the countries. Apparently, Myanmar is just Burma under a new name. I feel that all these renamings say a hell of a lot about how unstable the governments and national identities of these countries are.

Norway hasn't changed its name for about 1000 years. Before the 11th century, there was a strip of coastline known as "the north way" where various Norse tribes had their petty kingdoms. These petty kingdoms later became the counties of the Kingdom of Norway.

The hell... Zaire ceased to exist in 1997? I guess that explains why I stopped hearing about that country around the turn of the millennium, and began hearing about this other country named Congo after that... I had those as two separate countries in my head.

I've got Beyerdynamic DT-770 and Audio-Technica ATH-M50 hooked up to my Focusrite interface, and I'm A-B listening. They sound similar, but I think they had different design goals: The ATH-M50 feels punchy and precise. The DT-770 feels airy and detailed. The ATH-M50 seems best for pop, while the DT-770 seems best for classical. Maybe there is a headphone out there that handles both equally well, but I suspect I'd need fairly deep pockets to buy it. https://snabeltann.no/media/pga_4KQmPrxa0-_L-N8 https://snabeltann.no/media/opA6OXsTm_YS15lbP7s

Buying contents insurance and moving tens of thousands of dollars/euros around various expense, savings and tax accounts makes me feel very much like a middle class adult. The sums are bigger than anything I've ever handled, but I've never been less excited about having money, because only a fraction of it is pocket money that I can spend freely. (In theory, I could of course spend it all on crack and hookers, but then I'd be royally fucked.)

Model numbers with G, D, T, X (in that order) and double digits followed by a zero in them sound nice.

    GTX-330
    DT-880
    GX-220

They sound like products I want to own, and I don't even know what they are yet.

Good: In Norway, $65k/year is an average wage

Bad: In Norway, a third of that is taxes, the other third is rent (if you want a decent apartment within the metro area of a city with more than one room and no roommates) and the final third is food, transport and other boring stuff. For the fun stuff, you're going to have to save up, or take up a loan.

When English speakers say "Nobel Prize" it sounds like they're saying "no-bell prize". His name was Alfred NoBEL (rhymes with "cartel"), not NObel (rhymes with "oval").
