I think I have an actually, genuinely good use for the blockchain:

*news* and *public records* on the blockchain.

Serves as a check against revisionist authoritarian regimes.

The trick would be to make it in such a way that it could avoid detection/capture within authoritarian-controlled networks. 🤔

@allan @ink_slinger @thurloat It makes so happy that a trade war toot quickly became an extended meditation on the North American maple syrup economy, with a delicious nugget about a self-defeating price-fixing syrup cabal that was, of course, Quebecois.

@ink_slinger @Modern_Industrial @allan we have a lot of small NS local syrup producers.

They all use the same "Made in NS Pure Maple Syrup" bottle with a little sticker with the address of the trees it was sucked from.

@allan America's not that different TBH. Although Americans think their leaders are divine because they're rich, not the other way around.

My wife and I finally have access to a TV with streaming for a bit, so we've been watching Netflix's "The Crown", since it was highly recommended by many friends.

And I'm struggling with it.

Its essentially about crazy wealthy, not particularly bright people whose only responsibility is to do stuff in public and not be a complete fuck up, and they repeatedly fail.

It's like Keeping Up With the Kardashians, but with better cinematography and accents.
